Sen. Kelsey files resolution commending Shelby County Schools’ new promotion policy to ensure students are prepared for third grade

(NASHVILLE) – State Senator Brian Kelsey (R-Germantown) filed Senate Resolution 33 today commending Shelby County Schools on its adoption of a new promotion policy to ensure that its students are performing at grade level and are prepared for the next grade. In an effort to boost literacy rates among young students, Shelby County Schools has proposed a new policy to no longer promote those second-graders to third grade who are not ready. Sen. Kelsey files resolution calling for TVA to remove toxic coal ash from Allen Fossil Plant

NASHVILLE –Senator Brian Kelsey (R-Germantown) filed a resolution today calling for the expeditious removal of toxic coal ash from the containment ponds at the Allen Fossil Plant on President’s Island in Memphis. Senate Joint Resolution 29 ­­asks the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) to take action to ensure that Memphis water is protected from a potential breach. Continue reading
